Students and staff are introduced to innovation and entrepreneurship through curated showcases of faculty-led projects, sparking early interest and recognition of potential.
2. Ideation
iSpark Ideation Session
A platform for students and aspiring entrepreneurs to brainstorm, pitch raw ideas, and receive feedback from mentors, laying the foundation for innovative ventures.
3. Incubation
i) Upskilling Programs
Participants undergo training to enhance entrepreneurial, innovation, and technical skills.
ii) Opportunity to Take Part in International Competitions
Teams are groomed to represent TAR UMT in global arenas.
iii) iSpark Pitching & Innovation Award
A platform to pitch matured ideas and prototypes to industry judges for recognition and funding.
iv) Hackathons
Innovation marathons where participants co-create and prototype solutions to real-world challenges under time constraints.
4. Pre-Seed Funding
The iSpark Pre-Seed Funding provides up to RM5,000 to support registered iSpark teams with validated ideas or MVPs. This early-stage funding is intended to assist with prototype development, market validation, and business model refinement.
Beyond financial support, teams may also benefit from mentorship, co-working space access, and pitching opportunities. Exceptional teams may be shortlisted to pitch to external investors, including venture capitalists (VCs) and angel investors, opening doors to larger funding rounds and strategic partnerships for future growth.
5. Start-up Formation/Commercialisation
Projects with validated potential are supported to become formal startups, gaining access to mentors, networks, and facilities.
iSpark guides startups toward product launch, market entry, and scaling strategies.
Support includes IP filing, funding facilitation, industry matching, and investment-readiness programs.
